The Deposit Protection Service
By law, tenancy deposits have to be protected in a government authorised tenancy deposit protection scheme. The Deposit Protection Service is such a scheme, and so any deposits given over to Homecoming Letting Agency are lodged with this body to safeguard them until the end of the tenancy.
Upon receipt of the deposit, the Deposit Protection Service contacts you and us to confirm that the deposit is protected. You’ll be issued with your unique deposit identification number, which you will need to keep in a safe place, as you will need it in order to claim back your deposit at the end of your tenancy.
Homecoming Letting Agency will lodge the deposit using the mobile number and email address given at the beginning of the tenancy- if these change during the course of the tenancy you will need to update the DPS, to avoid any delays at the end of the tenancy when you will be applying to have your deposit returned.
There are four ways in which you can update your details:
Online: by logging into your account at: www.depositprotection.com
By telephone: 03303030030
Via an online form connected to the virtual customer service agent/FAQs at:
Or in writing: The Deposit Protection Service,
Bristol BS99 6AA
At the end of the tenancy
At the end of your tenancy we will need to agree with you who is entitled to the deposit and submit this agreement online. The DPS will then allocate the funds accordingly.
What if we can’t agree?
The D.P.S. run an independent Alternative Dispute Resolution Service which aims to resolve any dispute quickly and without the need for court action. This is an evidence based adjudication service which requires the consent of both parties.
